🔥Bragitude: The Balance of Confidence and Gratitude 🔥

An example of Bragitude in action. In this article, I share an endorsement of Bragging Rights, and practical ways to practice Bragitude, along with why self-promotion, when done with intention, is a powerful tool for success.

I recently came across a photo from a fireside chat at Salesforce with Julie Hansen, GCB.D CCB.D, and it reminded me of the powerful conversation we had about owning our success with confidence and authenticity.

We’ve all been told to “be humble” and “let our work speak for itself.” But in reality, opportunities don’t just land in our laps. If we don’t advocate for ourselves, we risk being overlooked.

At the same time, many of us struggle with how to talk about our successes in a way that feels natural and impactful. So how do we find the right balance?

Enter Bragitude

Bragitude is the combination of bragging and gratitude, a concept explored in Bragging Rights.

It means:
âś… Confidently sharing your accomplishments so others see your contributions
âś… Appreciating the people and opportunities that helped you along the way
âś… Creating space for yourself while also uplifting others

When we blend both, we remove any hesitation around self-promotion. We own our achievements while staying grounded in appreciation.

Julie Hansen’s Endorsement: A Powerful Reminder

I was thrilled when Julie endorsed my book, and her words capture this concept perfectly:

💬 “Warning: Engaging with this book may cause you to walk taller and shine brighter. How are you different? What is your superpower? Can you answer these questions about yourself?” 💬

Her message is a reminder that being seen isn’t about arrogance—it’s about stepping into our strengths.

Three Ways to Practice Bragitude

Want to start embracing Bragitude in your own life? Here are three ways to get started:

đź“Ś Keep a Brag Book: Write down your wins and positive feedback so you can reference them when needed.

đź“Ś Acknowledge Others Publicly: Elevate colleagues and peers by celebrating their work, not just your own.

📌 Reframe Self-Promotion: Instead of thinking, “Will this come across the wrong way?” ask yourself, “How can I share this in a way that adds value to others?”

These are just a few ways to start. In Bragging Rights, I go deeper into how to own your success, advocate for yourself, and create opportunities without hesitation.

A Thank You to Salesforce and Julie

This post is my way of practicing Bragitude—by sharing a proud moment while also expressing my deep appreciation.

Thank you Salesforce for hosting this important conversation. And thank you Julie for your endorsement of Bragging Rights and for your leadership in helping others shine.
